What are we?
PAFEV South-kivu: supporting program to Vulnerable women; and children is a nongovernmental organization of Congolese right specialized in the empowerment support of Vulnerable women; protection, promotion and education of vulnerable children as well as junile entrepreneurship.
Created in March 10th 2021 at Bukavu in a context purely urgent in the destruction without recoil of socio-economic fromezork in south-kivu province after a decade of repeated ,orbid war since 1996 up to now which has led to to human barbaousness, the ,most artcious of the history, with murder, rape , thievery, pillage, houses , schools and churches conflagration ,…
Concerned with the blackest misery in which a thousand of defenseless or not familiars live in South-Kivu Province.
Shifted by famous capacity of those thousand vulnerable familiars to support primitive needs of their children and allow them to access to their essential services, case of nourishment, medical treatment, school years, etc.
Affected by irrational drift and innovativeness that those helpless familiars use for surviving or for eating and respond to other household needs.
Considering the present dynamic of increasing basic actions for the best ones directly profitable to the welfare of local population.
Shifted by various socio-economic difficulties that local south-kivu province population encounters in general, case of defenseless women and children victims of any kind of violence.
Considering that all most all the population from that part of the province is most of the times forgotten in the planification of humanitarian actions , of development and or urgencies led by different actors in the benefit of other populations facing the same issue.
Little or much that it may be , willingly to contribute to the reduction of poverty in that part of the province and then take the woman / child to a truthful socio – economic reinsertion for the sake of leading them to their empowerment .
Convinced by the necessity of creating a suitable framework sensitive to channel necessary resources to the promotion and socio- economic reinsertion of vulnerable woman and child from south- kivu in particular and DRC in general .
Localization
The office of Pafev“ supporting program to vulnerable women and children “ PAFEV south-kivu asbl is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, south –kivu province , Bukavu town , kadutu commune , kasali district Murhundu avenue, No 17.
Vision
The vision of “ PAFEV South-kivu” is to build a world where the promotion and empowerment of defenceless women and child to the social cohesion and welfare development of the mentioned helpless people .
Mission
Thanks to the professional and technical training of woman and children beneficiaries of the program, integrate these ones in the community and help them to step up their own life.

The supporting program to vulnerable women and children ,”PAFEV South-kivu asbl “ is a strong organization able to efficiently contribute to the improvement of socio – economic conditions of helpless women and child thanks to communal and humanitarian actions .

B. Intervention strategies
Sensibilization and responsalization of vulnerable women to woman empowerment principle.
Support juvenile groups in handcraft learning of their choice to promote their entrepreneurship.
Militate in favor of protection and education of defenseless children.
Involvement in seeing off vulnerable women and children for fighting against poverty.
Organize and accompany women groups and other vulnerable people into income activities such as farming breeding , thriftiness and credit of rural associations for fighting against poverty.
Promote economic activities of pygmies for improving their life conditions.
SOME ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE NGO PAFEV SOUTH-KIVU/DRC
FOOD AND ECONOMIC SECURITY
Support in agricultural tools to improve farming sector; one of the solutions to guarantee food security in rural areas, particularly in Nyakalengwa grouping; Idjwi Territory this 14 september 21

Capacity building in new agricultural techniques for PAFEV South-kivu beneficiaries in order to improve agricultural production for a good self-sufficiency of farmers Nyakalengwa grouping; Idjwi Territory this 18 september 21.
PAFEV South-kivu currently supports 200 vulnerable farmers in the Kamisimbi Group in Walungu Territory and in the Nyakalengwa Group in Idjwi Territory. These farmers are grouped in community-based organizations called "Groupements paysans" whose objective is to work the land as a group in order to fight against food insecurity and poverty.
Being still at the beginning of our actions and evaluating with our means, our beneficiaries have expressed needs in terms of capacity building and agricultural inputs necessary for production.
Women are in the majority among our beneficiaries.
The choice of beneficiaries was made in a very transparent way in collaboration with the local authorities. Certain criteria were used in the selection of beneficiaries, notably
1. To be a farmer and favorable to team work because group or team work is a factor of reinforcement of social cohesion and allows exchanges of experiences between the beneficiaries.
2. To have a field where to practice agriculture (notions learned in the school-farmers' fields) after the different trainings;
3. Being vulnerable, with or without arable land (it is important to note that in our intervention, some people may be displaced or demobilized from armed groups. Their status may prevent them from having land in their host communities. These people being more vulnerable and for peace reasons, PAFEV can accompany them in negotiations with large landowners and local authorities in order to access land for production).
4. To be courageous and able to work the land (plough): We work with those who have the courage and the will to change their life situation. Those who are aware of the difficulties they are going through and who commit themselves to act courageously with others to improve the situation.
EDUCATION AND PROMOTION OF PEACE
In collaboration with local heads'support, Pafev starts up a campaign for sensitization ,promotion of conflict resolution and sexual violation against women for a lasting peace in favor of Walungu territory communities; Kamisimbi grouping this 22 august 21.
Since 1996 up to now which has led to human barbaousness, the most artcious of the history, with murder, rape , thievery, pillage.
Among the greatest victims of this violence, and particularly of sexual and gender-based violence, are women and children. Whenever there is an attack in a village, the assailants not only loot valuable material goods, but also rape girls and women regardless of age; sometimes they take some of them into the forest and hold them hostage as sex slaves. After impregnating them, they keep them until they can no longer abort and bring them back to their village to give birth. In some places, armed groups no longer operate, but like a contagious disease, this violence continues today and is committed by both civilians and armed men.
nsequences of sexual and gender-based violence against women and girls:
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Forced pregnancies
- Stigma and discrimination in their communities
- Increased poverty.
- Widespread trauma
2. Consequences of sexual and gender-based violence against children:
- Many children born of rape in the villages suffer from exclusion and stigmatization
- Lack of proper care since these children are not well accepted in their families and communities
- Poor schooling of children born of rape and even of other children from poor families
- Generalized trauma
3. Consequences of the violence on the communities
- Conflicts
- Dislocation of families;
- Poverty of the families because of the destruction of the woman and her exclusion which often prevents her from working and being productive
Initiation of indigenous people to the creation and management of income-generating activities; one of the solutions to their empowerment and effective self-management, This 15 september 21.
On the island of Idjwi, after observation and exchanges with the IPs regarding their living conditions, they testified that they were confronted with the following difficulties
- Lack of land to cultivate and live on: they do not have their own land, like other people;
- Lack of jobs: many young pygmies have no occupation and due to this they engage themselves into banditry and theft;
- IPs are victims of discrimination and marginalization: they are excluded from all decision-making, their children do not study, they only marry each other and never with other people because they are marginalized and very poor;
- Due to the lack of payment fees, pygmy women give birth at home with several consequences: This is not only because of poverty but also because they do not have culture. This explains the high rate of infant mortality in their camps and several cases of death of mothers during childbirth.
- Lack of support for pygmy activities;
- Lack of adequate housing: Most of them live in straw houses that expose them to all kinds of bad weather;
- They are excluded from local peace and development organizations: Too few women participate with others in village savings and loan associations. Etc.
- Malnutrition and diseases among children: Many children suffer from all kinds of illnesses and are never treated because their parents resort to traditional medicine with all its risks;
- The indigenous pygmies of South Kivu are often very precarious and they generally affirm that their health conditions were better when they lived in the forest. Deprived of the forest in these days, they have been deprived of access to traditional medicines, yet they have no other resources that could facilitate the purchase of medicines in pharmacies or to be treated in public or private hospitals;
- Lack of access to justice due to poverty;
- Lack of training in various fields, etc.
Faced with the many survival needs and difficulties of IPs in the Idjwi Territory, Mpene and Mugote Group, PAFEV wants to accompany them:
- By supporting income-generating activities in favor of IPs to improve their living conditions so that they can be able to take care of themselves on all levels;
- Supporting the schooling of pygmy children, including girls;
- Advocating with Idjwi king for them to have access to arable land (they must also cultivate market gardening products in order to fight against malnutrition in their households);
- Negotiate scholarships each year for pygmy children and girls living in Idjwi Island.
- Promote food self-sufficiency so that communities in general and IPs in particular can live off their production and promote income-generating activities in order to obtain financial resources, which are indispensable in the long run to enable them to access health centers and pay the costs of schooling for their children;
- By creating adult literacy, vocational training and entrepreneurship centers for IPs in the Idjwi Territory to reduce unemployment.
Thus, PAFEV wants to carry out actions that will be levers of development that will contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of IPs and other vulnerable people to get out of extreme poverty of these communities. There will also be actions of advocacy with the provincial and governmental authorities for the integration of Pygmies, because no one really takes this into account today. This is to ensure that their most fundamental rights are recognized and respected.
These problems will be progressively addressed by PAFEV as financial means to become available.
Overall objective: To contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the indigenous pygmy people living in Mugote and Mpene groups; Idjwi territory
Specific objectives:
- Accompany the indigenous pygmy people of Mugote and Mpened in improving the economic situation of their households by supporting their income generating activities;
- To support the schooling of pygmy children;
- To support the medical care of pygmy women and children
Activities in relation to Outcome ned:
- Group IPs according to their activities;
- Support financially their craft activities in groups
- Facilitate their transportation to the sales points (Bukavu and Goma cities);
- Facilitate them a place to store their materials in the two cities (sales points);
- Train IPs on how to manage an income-generating activity;
- Group IPs and other vulnerable people into village savings and loan associations;
- Train them on the functioning of a village savings and loan association;
- Support commercial activities of pygmy women and other vulnerable people (small business as a quick source of income)
Training in cut and sewing learning in favor of vulnerable women and girls victims of rapes in Kadutu commune, Bukavu town. The training be started up in January 2024 at PAFEV's center, in kasali , Murhundu avenue, N° 17 , kadutu commune.
